Our New Kitchen Vision (before photos + video!)

T-minus two weeks until we no longer have a kitchen in our home!! We’ve already begun emptying cabinet and the boys ripped out the built-in buffet a few days ago. I’m not gonna lie, I’m CRAZY excited…but I’m mega freaking out at the idea of having all the kids home during summer and not knowing when we’ll have a working kitchen again since a large portion of our cabinets are backordered.

BUT…by next week the entire kitchen will be demoed to prepare for our appointment with the floor guys so they can turn our hardwoods from a deep chocolate brown to the super (SUPER!!!) light color I’ve been dreaming of for several years. Gahhhh….I’m here for it.

I have a fun video for you, but before you watch…

Check out how the house looked when we moved in six years ago.

Talk about DARK, right?! The previous owner prided herself on not having a SINGLE STITCH OF WHITE anywhere in the house. Even the ceilings and baseboards were a dingy cream rather than white.

We first turned the walls grey…and then during the Pandemic, I went WHITE EVERYWHERE (Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore).

Head to the video before to see how it’s going…

Here’s some of my inspiration…

The above photos are also from Uniqua Collections (Australia). In fact, frustratingly, nearly EVERYTHING I’ve saved is from Australia. Which funnily, has caused Pinterest to think that’s where I live, lol.

Have you heard of Three Birds Renovations? The business is comprised of three bffs in Australia (sighhhhh…of COURSE) who build and renovate THE most beautiful homes you’ve ever seen.

I binge their YouTube channel whenever I get my hair done and have time to sit for a while. I’ve also spent HOURS pouring over every word (and photo) in their book (you guys, it’s so good).

Both these (above) photos are from Three Birds Renovations House 10. This home is a major source of inspiration, though honestly…every house they work on is.

I can’t wait to start sharing the CRAZY UNIQUE fridge we just bought and the baskets from Vietnam that we’re converting into pendants for over our new island…and links to all the other fun stuff!
