Feel Like You've Watched All of Netflix? (try these 10 fiction books instead!)
A few years ago when one of our kids left us for six months, I was too devastated to turn on the TV. I couldn’t handle anything with the tiniest amount of drama or anything that would induce anxiety. Life was too hard and I needed nice. simple. happy. I even craved predictability.
So instead, I got into the habit of reading fun, beach-read type books every night before bed (in fact, I read nearly 40 of them that year). Maybe you’re feeling anxiety because you’re stuck at home…or perhaps you just feel like you’ve watched (and re-watched) everything good on Netflix.
Either way, I really recommend these fun reads below. But if you stay up too late because you just can’t put it down, then for that I’m sorry (not sorry). Wink.
I mean, the title alone had me. I knew it’d be sweet and that I’d like it (and I did)! Reminiscent of any Tom Hanks film or Hallmark movie, if those make you grin…this book will, too.

2. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
This book made my heart ache and smile at the same time. Ohmygosh it was so good. Definitely a must-read.

3. The Royal We
I absolutely loved this book but sure made me glad I’m not a royal. The Royal we was fun and hilarious…but it sure opened my eyes to the realties of how life likely is. Would love you to read it and come back and tell me your thoughts!

The Austin Escape is probably my first Jane Austen fan fiction novel (though certainly not my last!). It was fantastic and made me want to read ALL of Kathrerine Reay’s books (her latest comes out in May, I can’t wait).

This was one of my favorite books I’ve read in a long time, ohmygosh it just hit me in all the right places. I think I just secretly love books about travel and food, haha.

7. Dear Mr. Knightley
I loved this book! It took me awhile to figure out, which is unlike me…I typically figure out a book within the first few chapters. It definitely needs to be made into a Hallmark movie or something. Just absolutely adored the story.
Bookish Samantha has always hidden behind the words of others—namely, her favorite characters in literature. Now, as she discovers love beyond the pages of her favorite novels, she will learn to write her own story.
Sam is, to say the least, bookish. An English major of the highest order, her diet has always been Austen, Dickens, and Shakespeare. The problem is, both her prose and conversation tend to be more Elizabeth Bennet than Samantha Moore.

I was skeptical about this one. I don’t remember why I downloaded it onto my kindle without being excited about the story…but I was 100% wrong. The Hideaway story was phenomenal. Go read this one right now!
